During the coronavirus pandemic, strong growth in the electronics market was witnessed globally, as billions of people working and studying from home. Publicly listed ICT distributor, PT Metrodata Electronics (MTDL) experienced a high demand for notebook, printer, switch access point, and cloud computing. The increase let MTDL enjoyed a 10% increase in net profit to Rp94.25 billion, followed by a 5% increased in revenue to Rp3.39 trillion during the first quarter of 2020.
“We are grateful that our diversification effort and strategy enabled the revenue from the Solution and Consulting Business Unit to grow 15.4% and the Distribution Business Unit up 1.4%,” says Susanto Djaja, president director of MTDL in a recent statement. He added that during the pandemic, notebooks sales contributed 60% to the revenue of the company’s Distribution Business Unit.
At the same quarter, MTDL also recorded significant growth in its software sales, which grew by 62% YoY to Rp 625.1 billion. Meanwhile, the hardware sales declined 2.37% to Rp 2.47 trillion from Rp 2.53 trillion. Revenue from services and rental also down 6.8% to Rp 294.6 billion from Rp 316.2 billion.
“In this extraordinary challenge due to the pandemic, Metrodata plans to keep the consistency and ensure that every digital transformation services run smoothly,” said Susanto.
